Lady health visitor Training Centres (LHVTC)


Introduction

Funded from the State budget. The following are the centres Ramanagara Belgavi, Kalaburagi and Mangalore. Mangalore LHVTC centres was started in the Year of 03.01.1966. It is In service ANM promotion training. (Batch size - 30 per and Duration - 6 months. (Residential training) criteria for selection – 5 years of Karnataka govt service with probationary declaration and KNC registration. 59 batch is on training.

Goals: -

India is a signatory of Primary Health Care and Health for All to provide easily accessible comprehensive health care services at the primary level and close to the community. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare envisages a new dimension to the nursing profession in the country which is seen as the answer to taking primary health care to rural, underserved and tribal areas and provide primary healthcare to clients of all ages, implement National Health Programs and supervise, manage and provide technical support there is a need for nursing teaching institutions to train GNMs which are affiliated to government hospital facilities of maternal, neonatal, paediatric units, multi-specialty units for management of communicable and non-communicable disease. The course is conducted with due permission from the Indian Nursing Council at the Centre and State.

Implementation :

For Implementation of above programme student are posted to the community – Sub-centre/ PHC/CHC/Taluk Hospital and District Hospital.Community postings for ANM Trainees – 6 months. Were they stay in the Sub-centre/ PHC/CHC and learn from trained field workers that is LHV - health workers and area ANM about organization, functions and the responsibilities towords community.
